Metea Valley Choral Position Information
Metea Valley High School, located in Aurora, Illinois, is hiring a full-time choir director to join the music faculty starting in August 2024. The position will be teamed with another full-time choir director and full-time collaborative pianist to serve the choral program. The music department consists of 10 collaborative staff members who work closely together to teach approximately 750 students enrolled in music courses.
Metea Valley High School is the newest of three high schools (opening in 2009) in Indian Prairie School District 204 with an enrollment of approximately 3000 students. Metea Valley is recognized by the Grammy Foundation as a Grammy Signature Gold School. The district has also been awarded the NAMM Best Communities for Education every year since 2012. The choirs have performed at local, state, and national conventions and festivals.
There are 7 curricular choirs that rehearse during the school day. A variety of co-curricular ensembles including vocal jazz, a cappella ensembles, madrigals, spring musical, and world music vocal ensembles are available to students after school hours. Students in the curricular ensembles perform four concerts a year. Several enrichment opportunities (guest clinicians, guest artists, composer visits and commissioned works, festivals, etc.) are supported by our MV Association of Music Parents and community.
